FineReader provides you with tools for document input into the computer. All you have to do is click the Scan&Read button once - all the rest is done by the application, so you don't have to spend any time studying its intricacies. You can send the recognized text to a word processor or a spreadsheet application, you can save it in RTF/DOC, PDF and HTML, thus retaining the full document layout, or you can export the recognized text into a database.
